This week, both classes will be discussing the same subject. Many of you are either looking at colleges, or in the final stages of choosing a college. One factor to consider is the whether the colleges you are considering are nonprofit (publicly owned, receive federal and state funding to provide a learning environment that serves students’ interests) or for-profit (essentially a business, launched and managed by owners and shareholders who are looking to make a profit). With student debt in the U.S. reaching over $1.5 trillion dollars in 2018, it is wise be informed about these options before enrolling with any college.
Using both of the following articles, summarize and discuss the issues regarding for-profit colleges in the usual blog format. (Weekly comments post and commenting are also required, as usual.)
