Greetings, Digital Media Seniors!
This year, you will be required to create and maintain a blog as one of your major theory grades. Each week, instead of doing Weekly Comments in your notebook, you will create at least one thoughtful blog entry on your own blog about the happenings of the past week. Be sure to include the usual Weekly Comments requirements (what you learned, what you want to learn, what frustrated you, what made you happy), along with any other relevant thoughts. In addition to the Weekly Comments post, you will be required to post at least two other items of interest each week (cool movies/web sites/Flash/YouTube videos, etc., helpful links, other discoveries related to digital media), with a link to the item included your post, as well as your comments or reactions. Blogs will be graded each week, and will replace much of the notebook/quiz portion of your grade this year, so you should put some effort into creating interesting and useful posts.
In addition to managing your own blog, you must also subscribe to (and read regularly) all of your classmates’ blogs, as well as the instructor’s blog (http://licataland.blogspot.com). I will be posting regularly, including special assignments, contests, scholarships, and other items of interest, so get in the habit of checking the blogs every day.
Specifications and grading guidelines are outlined on the Blog Project handout I gave you in class, so be sure to read that carefully. I would also recommend looking at my blog posts from last year for some examples of interesting finds.
