Mouth Charts for Lip Sync
In case anyone needs some references for mouth shapes, I am going to reblog the link Will found this week: http://minyos.its.rmit.edu.au/~rpyjp/a_notes/mouth_shapes_01.html
Plus this one for simpler characters: http://minyos.its.rmit.edu.au/~rpyjp/a_notes/mouth_shapes_02.html
Plus this creepier one that may help when we get to 3D: http://www.garycmartin.com/phoneme_examples.html
You can also search for other charts. Blog them if you find good ones!

Animation Walk Cycle Resources
There are several tutorials available online to help you with the walk cycle exercise. The simplest tutorial, which you may want to start with, is here:
http://animation.about.com/od/flashanimationtutorials/ss/flash29walkcycl.htm
Once you are comfortable with the technique, here are some others you may want to reference:

Another Portfolio Option
Some people have been having issues with Weebly, as far as not being able to customize it as much as they want. Another site you can use is www.wix.com. This was originally the site I was going to use, however, it does not handle swf files very well at this point. If you are in Video, that won't matter to you. If you are in Animation, the swf issues might be a problem for you, but there are workarounds.

Portfolio Builder site
For those of you who would like to get a jump on the portfolio, the site we will be using to build portfolios this year is www.weebly.com. I would suggest making an account and starting to experiment with it as soon as possible, as you will only have about 2 weeks to create your portfolios (which means you will be expected to work on it outside of class also!). You can upload .swf files from Flash, but will not be able to upload Quicktime .mov files directly, so you will also need a YouTube account (or you can link from mine if the projects you need are there) for that format.
I will be discussing portfolio requirements next week, so stay tuned for that.
